Practise Less

Posted in Uncategorized on January 29, 2009 by evershedgolf

I wish I could say that the more you practise the better you will hit it, but I can’t. On a daily bases I see golfers practise their way into bad habits. It is totally possible to practise less and get better.

Look for ways to work on your game that takes less time but yields more success. As the late great Moe Norman used to say, Try smarter not Harder.

Do not drop the club to the inside

Posted in Uncategorized on January 27, 2009 by evershedgolf

I find most of my teaching time is spent trying to stop players from doing the very things they have been told are correct.

We hear so much about keeping the spine angle , yet in the next sentence they say drop the club to the inside. How can you drop the club to the inside and keep your spine angle.

Truth. At the top of your back swing the club already is to the inside , there is know need to drop it more to that inside.

For your visual lesson go to my on line academy and check out anything on the arms / speed, or sequence.

Facinating

Posted in Uncategorized on January 24, 2009 by evershedgolf

I am in Florida doing some 3 day schools , it is amazing to see how a swing can change once the player is willing to except a different understanding of what they need to do to get a better result. I am more convinced than ever that the key to your better golf game is not how many balls you hit but instead you receiving better explanations of what you need to do.

Get in to position

Posted in Uncategorized on January 19, 2009 by evershedgolf

To little is mentioned about the importance of getting into the correct set up position to strike a ball properly. Somehow we golf instructors need to take  some of the romance out of working on the swing and put it on getting into the best possible positions to allow that swing to work.

In the next couple of months I will be posting on my downloading site some new ideas I hope you find interesting.

Remember

Don’t do it because they said to, do it because it makes sense , make them explain why you should make that change.

Why Is It So Hard To Change

Posted in Uncategorized on January 18, 2009 by evershedgolf

This may turn into a few blogs due to the understanding that it deserves to be fully explained.

#1 reason is because the golfing world is not being leveled with, you are continuously being mislead by infomercials giving you information that just is not true.

Fact. If your in a bad set up position nothing is going to help to any great degree. If you purchase something that promises more club head speed and your setup is poor you may hit the ball further but it will just go further crooked.

Why can’t we just wrap our minds around the idea that getting better is more about paying attention to detail of what we need to do.

I think training devices can be great if used in conjunction with the correct golf information.

Next time you go to a pga tour event checkout how many of the tour guys whip out a medicus on the practice tee.

More to come.

Fear

Posted in Uncategorized on January 14, 2009 by evershedgolf

Isn’t it amazing how we get nerves when we are about to shoot our best scores. I remember playing in Junior tournaments and being really kind of scared if I got playing to good. I also recall my parents telling me to not get nerves,I think that got me thinking that nerves and scared are bad things. Funny thing is I am not the leased bit nerves when I am 10 shots out of the lead,I only get nerves when I am playing good.

I think I would rather play good and be scared than play bad and be comfortable.
It is totally possible to be afraid and still play great.

Faldo Golf Tips

Posted in Uncategorized on January 13, 2009 by evershedgolf

If you watched The Mercedes Golf Championship this weekend you heard Nick Faldo’s golf tips. It is not Nick I  disagree with, its those golf experts that continuously give us the same old tips that we have heard for years. How many times have you heard keep your putter low to the ground Thru the ball. Did you see David Leadbetter give his tip on hitting from an up hill side hill lie.It was okay, nothing that your $25.00 per lesson golf pro couldn’t have told you.

I want earth shaking mind blowing information, the kind that makes you stop and say to your self why have I never heard that before. Now in their defence they are given to short a period of time to get their points across therefore you loose because of the information that is left out.

You deserve better. I hope that you will continue to log onto my website,I believe you will find information here that is different than you have ever heard before.

There Is Nothing Unatural About It.

Posted in Uncategorized on January 9, 2009 by evershedgolf

I continuously hear how the golf swing is not a natural motion.

I total disagree, what is unnatural is to try to move how the golf books tell you too.

If you start with your hands on the golf club correctly and then swung the club on plane without deviation any physical discomfort that you would feel would be a result of some activity other than golf.

Injuries that are golf related are caused either from you needing to make compensations due to a poor grip or you making a motion that is not required.

The late great Moe Norman would often say he hit so many balls because every muscle in his body loved it.

Florida Golf Schools with a difference

Posted in Uncategorized on January 6, 2009 by evershedgolf

Doing things normally has never been my strong suite , including the teaching of golf, my method is not weird or strange it just doesn’t go along with conventional thinking. If what you are working on is working I suggest you keep doing it but if it isn’t you might want to check out my on line academy.

My golf schools are all based on the theory that you have the talent but you are working with the wrong information. Go to http://www.evershedgolf.com you will quickly find if you like what I say or not, I do not do much fence sitting.

If you are thinking about a school and like what you read please call me @ 1888 884 4653.

Happy New Year

Posted in Uncategorized on January 1, 2009 by evershedgolf

Is this the year to finally make those changes. If yes is the answer I think you need to hear what I have to say.

Change is really hard. Actually it is next to impossible until you can openly and honestly admit that what you have been doing is not working for you. Do I sound like DR. Phil ?.

Truthfully very few golfers succeed it making any dramatic long term change. Unfortunately their failure is due to the lack of insufficient knowledge not lack of talent. We live in an age of overwhelming excess to information but we also have to deal with the fact that most of that info is wrong , misleading and or unorganized.

My 2009 Resolution.

Over the next year I am going to lay out the learning of the golf swing better than anyone has ever seen or heard it done to date. My goal is to give verbal explanations that cause you to get angry because they make so much sense you are forced to ask yourself why know one has said this before. I will add to my On line Academy and Downloading sites the visuals to compliment the explanations and I will work towards building and endorsing training equipment that will make change happen faster than it has ever happened before.

I Need Your Help

Visit my site , tell your friends, discuss my thoughts and feel free to email me your idea’s and opinions.

My Over All Opinion.

To improve you must start with the correct information, you then must have an organized practice routine and you must have a central resource to which you can draw from.
